iPhone/iPod touch remote access

Finally you can access your home, work or friends computer remote on your mobile device easily!

TeamViewer connects from your PC or iPhone/iPod touch to any PC or server around the world within a few seconds, literally. I’ve personally configured the software on my iPhone and laptop at home and it worked flawlessly. To make sure it worked I’ve been connecting to my home PC whenever I get a chance to see if it really remotes from anywhere and so far it hasn’t let me down. The steps what I did to configure are below.

Drop me a line and let me know how it’s working for you!

Step to configure TeamViewer:

  1. Install software on your PC/Mac (Windows/Mac)
  2. Follow the installation prompts for your respective system
  3. Run the .exe downloaded you just downloaded
  4. Install TeamViewer on your computer, click Next:
  5. Select how you want to use TeamViewer, for this tutorial we’ll choose ‘personal / non-commercial use‘, click Next:
  6. You will need to accept/agree with TeamViewer’s agreements to install, click Next:
  7. I’m not really sure what the different between Normal Installation & Start automatically with Windows is but I used “Start automatically with Windows“. Also you will need to create a password. If you’re not sure what password to use, go to this strong password generator for ideas, click Next:
  8. For Access Control I’d suggest sticking to the recommended settings, click Next:
  9. Watch it install, then click “Finish”.
  10. After installation is complete, TeamViewer will open. Signing up to TeamViewer is optional. I only recommended if the case is that you will be using this to connect to multiple PC with different ID’s because it allows you to create folders and keep you ID’s organized. If not, don’t worry about it and click on the “Partner list” icon to remove the logon box:
  11. Write down your computers’ ID number (without the spaces) and password. I recommend using a ‘user defined’ password for more security. To set the password go to Extras -> Options -> Security.

There are more optional settings you can configure but I won’t be getting into detail. The purpose of this tutorial is only to get you up and running between your personal PC and iPhone / iPod touch. See the steps for setting up your mobile device below:

  1. I assume you have a internet connection available via 3G or Wi-Fi to download the application. So go to the AppStore and search “TeamViewer
  2. Once download is complete, open application and you’ll notice icons at the very bottom. Tap the one titled “Connect“. This is where you can will need to type the ID number I asked you to write down earlier and the ‘user-define’ password created. That’s it!!

At this point you should be able to connect successfully. If it doesn’t work I suggest you go back through the steps to make sure you didn’t miss anything. I went over these steps like 5 times to make sure I didn’t miss anything and even tested the steps before posting to make sure all worked ok and it did. But since were all imperfect, if you notice I overlooked something please drop me a line and let me know.

Hope you enjoy!
